Environmental Planning

The term 'environmental planning' includes all the processes required to plan and implement ecologically sustainable development (ESD), based on environmental constraints and opportunities, and balanced with social and economic objectives. Chenoweth EPLA has pioneered these integrated approaches in Queensland, helping to bridge the gap between land use planning and environmental sciences. Our approach is both rigorous and consultative, based on conservation biology principles, and working closely with clients and stakeholders to identify/resolve issues. Our reports are capable of withstanding community, scientific and legal scrutiny.

In this rapidly-changing field, clients can be assured of advice which is appropriate and up-to-date. High priority is placed on continuing professional development, library and internet searches, regular presentation of papers at conferences, and maintaining links with policy-makers, agency personnel, professional bodies and community groups. Our work is also regularly benchmarked through expert testimony before the Planning & Environment Court.

Awards in environmental planning include a RAPI(Qld) Award of Excellence in Planning and a national Certificate of Merit (1994-95), and four Certificates of Merit.

With in-house expertise in environmental sciences, planning, design and management, and a network of contract personnel and specialist sub-consultants, Chenoweth EPLA has the capabilities to undertake environmental projects from preliminary site investigation through impact assessment to management plans. We are also experienced in managing multi-disciplinary teams involving other consultants and researchers.
