Capabilities

Cardno Chenoweth has proven capabilities in a number of inter-related fields associated with environmental planning and landscape architecture. Our 6 main areas of practice are listed opposite, but across all of these fields several generic capabilities apply, in which the firm has considerable skills and experience:

Integration - as an inter-disciplinary team with a range of qualifications and experience in planning and impact assessment, we assess landscapes and environmental issues holistically. We integrate ecolgy, open space, water management, scenic amenity and character with town planning and design.

Assessment and ranking of significance - we have pioneered and developed GIS-based techniques in landscape evaluation and nature conservation classification for assessing relative significance, and specialise in these approaches.

Consultation - in most of these areas of practice, our experience has included a range of consultation programs, ranging from agency discussions through to community information-sharing, forums, focus groups, charettes and participatory park planning and design.

GIS - as one of the early adopters of GIS for environmental and landscape evaluation, and more recently for scenic amenity studies, Chenoweth EPLA remains up-to-date with its MapInfo platform.

Graphic Presentation - attractive and high-impact presentation has been a feature of our landscape concepts, and through the creative integration of InDesign, CAD and GIS these standards are increasingly applied also to visual assessment, rehabilitation and environmental projects.
